A $15 million rare dime with a rare bicentennial quarter

The United States Bicentennial in 1976 was a significant national celebration, marking 200 years since the Declaration of Independence.

To commemorate this event, the U.S. Mint released a special series of quarters, half dollars, and dollars.

Among these, the Bicentennial quarter, featuring a unique design with a colonial drummer on the reverse side, stands out.

The rarity and the multimillion-dollar valuation come from a specific minting error or unique feature that sets certain quarters apart.

For example, a Bicentennial quarter struck on a different planchet (metal blank) or featuring a double die error can skyrocket in value.

Bicentennial quarters in pristine, uncirculated condition, especially those with certain errors, can be highly valuable.

Although millions of Bicentennial quarters were minted, only a few with specific rare characteristics command such high prices.
